since itibiti already had a pioneer avic-d3 head-unit, i thought the time had come to upgrade the sound. i asked matt boesch, of genius smart parts, boesch built products & smartBUSA, if he would do the research and installation for me. for speakers, we landed on jl audio...two 6" mid-range, two 6" mid-range with integrated tweeters, two 1" tweeters and an 8" subwoofer that mounts in an "under the dash" enclosure from smart madness. the power comes from a polk audio 5-channel amp mounted in a custom 4" high enclosure in the boot. believe me, it is quite a system.

custom box for speaker & amp	whatever you need done, matt does it!	seeing this gave me an anxiety attack!!	painted the "jl" with body matched paint	smoothing the welded handles
dynamat going on the engine cover	the engine cover is finished...	...and so is the engine compartment	strengthening weak area with 1/8" steel	some glue & rivets should do it!

the speaker wire, head unit component plugs, remote subwoofer volume control, power cable and ground cable plug into the outside of the amplifier enclosure so it can be unplugged and removed for easy access to the engine compartment. all the connections were placed behind the drivers seat so they are completely out of sight.

these custom handles not only look great, but add functionality, too!
these...	...plug into these!	matt added a custom grill to make the box stand out even more.
here is the finished product...in place for the first time! notice the handles for easy removal.
it fits like a glove, but we put a small strip of velcro on the bottom of each corner to eliminate any slippage.

because of the way we designed the box, the polk amp is fully exposed. so i asked matt to build a shelf that could sit on top of the box. that way the boot can be used for storage, while allowing air to circulate around the amp. it also keeps objects from scratching the amp. we powder-coated it and, as you can see, it really turned out great!
