2008 a 10 day, 1667 mile trek through the upper & lower michigan peninsulas in the summer of 2008, karen and i decided to take a michigan vacation. partly because i haven't traveled the state that much, had never been to the upper peninsula, and she hadn't been there in 30 years. but mostly we wanted to put itibiti thru its paces! boy, did we ever! our first stop was grand rapids for the 4th of july parade, then up the west coast to traverse city, across the stately mackinac bridge to st. ignace, sault ste. marie, paradise, munising, marquette, ishpeming, iron mountain, escanaba and manistique. then, after some heavy rain, we headed back across the bridge and down the lower east coast to oscoda and au gres...with many, many stops in between! by the time we got back home, 10 days and 1667 miles had passed, itibiti passed the audition and a good time was had by all!

2009 1st annual midwest smart car rally : friday, saturday & sunday : june 12, 13 & 14 every since we heard about the rally at the wisconsin dells, karen and i began planning our 2009 vacation. it turned out to be a 10 day, 1996 mile journey over the mackinac bridge, across michigan's upper peninsula, down to the dells, up to door county and back down to the milwaukee smart center and harley-davidson museum. we then headed down through grid-locked chicago to saugatuck and rockland, both in michigan. finally, somewhat reluctantly, we headed home. we made a lot of new friends, and i hope to post many of their pictures on the links below.

2010
orlando, florida
on monday, january 25, 2010, i drove itibiti down to attend the smart orlando 2nd anniversary celebration. from my home in west bloomfield, mi, it was 2342 miles, round-trip! wanting to get a head start, i left after work. driving through rough weather, i made it to cincinnatti, oh. there was more bad weather on tuesday, but i powered through, making it to valdosta, fl. wednesday saw me at my hotel before noon and itibiti had an additional 1171 miles on it! i left for home sunday, making it to knoxville, tn, then made it back home by 4:00pm on monday. whew! oh, yeah! did i mention the cracked windshield i got on the way down, not even 20 miles from home?
